This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct and report on observations in the field according to agency policies and procedures.
This unit applies to individuals who undertake field observations for the purposes of surveillance, research or monitoring of cultural or natural resources. They use observation and recording equipment, including maps, charts, video cameras, still cameras and global positioning systems (GPS). For surveillance purposes, these individuals collect relevant information of the type, quality and quantity necessary to present acceptable evidence in a court of law.
All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety, food safety, biosecurity and environmental regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
